Main Structure
The main frame is constructed of 2"x6" beams. We wanted to ensure that the frame would be a sturdy construct, in case of an accident during play where a player might lose balance and fall towards the machine. In addition, the wood provided an excellent contrast to the dark Duron accent panels, giving the game a Western feel. The frame is held together using wood screws, metal brackets, and wood glue. The Duron accent panels, lasercut to size, are adhered using industrial strength Velcro. This enables the game to be modular, and allows us to easily access the interior electrical components and microcontrollers.
Accents and decorations on the main frame are out of vinyl stickers, custom designed for this game.
To the left are the rough dimensions of the main frame. A slideshow of pictures of the construction and final frame are below, with detailed CAD drawings farther down.
